Blackout in all Southeast State as Power System Collapsed

Southeast State of Nigeria are expected to Experience power outage due to power system that collapsed. This information was announced by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

The State affected are Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States. However, Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, made disclosed this news in a statement on Sunday in Enugu, Nigeria.

According to Ezeh, the collapsed system occurred at 6.49pm on Sunday.

We are on standby waiting for further information on the restoration of power supply from the National Control Centre.

As a result of this development, all our outgoing feeders are out.

This has affected supply to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

We are on standby, awaiting further information on restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC).’

This experience is not new Nigeria. The power sector in the country has witnessed a lot of system collapse in recent weeks resulting in power outages across the country.

The Federal Government has report outage several times due to several reasons which includes shortage of gas, vandalism which disrupts the transmission system, power system collapses and many more.

Furthermore, inspire that Nigeria reported generation of 8,000MW capacity of electricity, the country barely manages to generate a little above 3,000 MW in some cases and less than that sometimes.
